Hey there, I’m Barry, and I’m curious about people. Sit next to me at dinner, and I’ll want to know what you’re reading, what you thought of the second act, and where you’d go if you could get on a plane tomorrow. And I’ll actually listen to the answer. The best evenings end with someone feeling properly heard, and that’s what I aim for.

I love new experiences, whether I’m in my depth or happily making a fool of myself. In the last few months alone I’ve seen The Odyssey, an anniversary screening of Jurassic Park, Matilda at the theatre, the latest Glyndebourne production and a drag show based on David Attenborough. I enjoyed every one of them, for very different reasons.

So time with me might be a flamenco show in Barcelona booked at the last minute or a wander down that odd little side street with the blue plaque you’ve always walked past. Or a quiet evening in, talking about the latest Naomi Klein book, or whatever you’re reading, over a game of Catan or a wobbly round of Jenga. Take me to a wedding, and I’ll be good company at the table, help the evening flow, and quietly rate the guests’ shoes with you.

I’m well educated and well read, and I’ve spent years in finance and business, so client dinners, conferences and black-tie evenings are familiar ground. I can hold my own with a room full of senior people, and I’m just as happy with a pint and the match on. I cycle most days and lift weights, so I’d call it a dad bod, but an earned one. I’m based in Worcestershire, I’m in London regularly, and I’m happy to travel anywhere in the UK and beyond, assuming expenses are covered and I’m given enough notice.
